Episode 1: Italy - The Italian climbing area Finale Ligure offers perfect conditions for climbers. Climbing history has been written here for more than 30 years. In this episode Andrea Gallo’s 8b+ classic climb “Hyaena” is repeated by Jakob Schubert. Episode 2: Germany - Wolfgang Güllich first climbed “Action Directe” (9a) in the Franconian woods (Frankenjura) in 1991. This route was a whole new dimension of difficulty and truly THE next level... Episode 3: France - Le Bout du Monde is located in the climbing paradise of Buoux. In the 80’s this famous area was determined to write climbing history as a group of young climbers turned the massive rocks into their playground. Four time overall world cup winner in bouldering Anna Ströhr climbed this legendary route while receiving help and tips from first ascender Antoine le Menestrel. Episode 4: Germany – The Altmühltal is the location of the fourth episode. The featured route is known as “The Face” due to its similarity with a human face. Jeremy Moffatt from Sheffield joined the legendary climbing-group of Kurt Albert, Norbert Sandner, Norbert Bätz and Ingrid Reitenspieß in the 80s. Jerry endeavoured to conquer the legendary “Face” project and succeeded. Mammut Pro athlete Barbara Bacher tried her best to climb this route again but it was too cold in January. Barbara is now waiting for autumn to accomplish her mission. Episode 5: USA – At Lake Tahoe (CA), between high fir trees you can find the “Suger Loaf”, a granite cone about 100 meters height. “The Grand Illusion” is part of this huge mountain. Tony Yaniro was the first climber to master this line in 1979. Here, 13-years old Mammut athlete Mirko Caballero climbs the V-shaped rock. Episode 6: England – “Hubble” is located at the “Raven Tor” in the English Peak District, and has been climbed only 4 times. In 1990, 23 year old Ben Moon broke new ground with this first ascent. Unfortunately the attempts by Mammut Pro athlete Sean McColl took place under suboptimal conditions – but of course, Sean will be back.
