Climbing hexes are large hexagonal shaped wedges of metal that you slot into constrictions in wider cracks, to provide protection when traditional climbing outdoors.
Also called chocks, chockstones, cow bells, wedges, or torque nuts, Climbing Hexes provide solid protection and safety when placed correctly. They are classed by climbers as passive protection as they have no moving parts. They are an important piece of safety gear when climbing traditionally outdoors as they can help you place protection where a cam (active protection) might not work, and they are a lot more cost effective too! (Read more about cams and nuts here.)
There are various types of climbing hexes available in many different brands, colours, shapes and sizes. We have great value for money sets for entry level beginner climbers, and a high end performance range for where every gram counts. Not to mention our selection of wired hexentrics too. If you need any help in choosing the right protection for your climbing and safety, please give us a call and we'd be happy to help.
