Scarpa Ribelle HD Mens

Colour: Cocoa/Moss
Cocoa/Moss
Size: EU 42

The mens's Scarpa Ribelle HD is a modern mountaineering boot perfect for walking in all seasons, mountaineering and summer alpine. The Ribelle HD takes a C2 crampon and it comfortable to wear in the mountains.

The Ribelle family of boots have been designed to allow to move faster than older more traditional mountain boots. Designs that give the boots low profile technical precision, noticeable toe spring and cushioning for a more natural walking experience.

Features of the Ribelle HD include a soft and flexible suede upper, a HD waterproof membrane that is laminated for a precise fir and excellent weather protection. This is all shielded with a PU Tech layer to protect the upper and midsole from rocks and the like.

Other technical details are the sock fit, for snugness and comfort; an autofit collar for comfort, especially across the achilles and malleous area; A heel tension system for avoiding torsional twists on steep terrain; a flex point in the ankles for increased movement whilst retaining stiffness for wearing crampons.

All these features and design elements make for a comfortable mountain boots, useable in many environments and conditions.

What is HD?
Thanks to the HDry® quality standard, the shoes built with this system possess the highest level of waterproofness, breathability and insulation. The waterproof and breathable membrane is firmly laminated to the upper inner side and there are no seams and no gaps where water can penetrate: rain and cold are blocked on the shoe’s outer surface and a large volume of dry air keeps your feet warm and comfortable. The ultra-thin waterproof membrane and the unique lamination method provides a precise fit and keep your shoes dry and light all day.

Main Advantages of HDry® (OutDry Rebranded)

  • The external layer and the membrane are a unique body; no space in between for water to collect.
  • Water penetration and absorbency are minimised so so weight does not increase in the wet.
  • The membrane has a very high capacity of water vapour permeability.
  • There is no seam sealing tape (as with Gore-Tex), enabling HD to exploit 100% of the membrane breathable surface.
  • Keeps a large volume of dry air between the skin and the membrane, reducing the risk of dew condensation.

Different fit to other Scarpas - narrow toe box, low volume

These boots seem great for multi-purpose use -- light and stiff. But, I just couldn't get the last to fit my feet, despite going to Rock + Run who stock half sizes, and trying with different insoles. I tried my normal size (42.5) and also a half size up (EU 43) and neither fits comfortably. I went back to Scarpa Mantras, which fit fine in my normal size.

It’s not cheap …especially now ! Value for money I use them almost every day.Quality no question , very surprised I didn’t need to go through the breaking in process for less than half the time … maybe me .. Possible

    New Boots

Bought these after finally wearing out my trusty Manta’s after 20 years of punishment including Mera Peak and Kilimanjaro…. These are comfortable straight from the box, the new last seems better for walking, with stiffness for scrambling over rougher terrain. I’ll be surprised if they last as long as there are a lot of seams in the boot but that said they are light and so far well satisfied with the purchase

    Scarp Ribelle boots

These are great winter mountaineering boots and really comfortable and warm. I always use Scarpa boots and these fitted perfectly straight out of the box and on a big day out using Grivel G12 crampons. I usually get size 44 but with these I went half a size up to 44.5 and I've also fitted some custom foot beds (which I use in all of my boots).

Customer service at Rock 43, Run was also great.

    Happy customer
