The iconic Scarpa Charmoz has been heavily updated compared to its predecessor. The boot comes in both male and female versions and is just at home trekking in the high mountains as it is climbing up a Scottish gully in the winter. The biggest update is to the lining of the boot, which now uses OutDry Lamination to ensure the boot is fully waterproof.

OutDry's construction means that the boot stays lightweight before, during and after prolonged use. This is because OutDry is bonded directly to the outer, which leaves no seams or gaps and therefore no way for water to get in. This layer is also highly breathable to ensure feet stay cool and comfortable throughout the day.

The uppers are made from L-Tech and Microtech synthetic leather which is lightweight and tough, which ensures the boot can deal with the harshest of conditions. Built on the popular and modern NAG last the fit is supportive, very precise, and ideal for alpine climbing. The boot also makes use of memory foam and an Autofit Collar, and a new lacing system, meaning the boot is able to be comfortable and fit a variety of foot shapes and volumes.

The sole of the boot is the Vibram Pentax Precision II XT which features Activ Impact Technology. This highly sophisticated sole places cushioning and stability in the perfect zones underfoot. The boot is crampon rated to B2.

Essentially identical to the new version bar the use of an OutDry rather than H-Dry waterproof membrane.

    I got cold feet

Initially quite impressed with these boots, though I never found them particularly warm. They are nimble and stiff - I have climbed up to IV 4 in these no problem. However, after 2 years of medium use they are not even slightly waterproof anymore and have spent many hours on belays with cold and wet feet. Will not bother with B2s anymore I don't think.

    Scarpa Charmoz OD......Excellent!

Perfect for Ben Nevis solid boots! wore them in rain, Hail. deep snow, through, puddles, streams across various rocky Terrain and wood. Great fit and very comfortable. Kept my feet, warm, dry and protected. They come up a bit small so bought a couple of sizes up. Perfect with Grivel G12 Newmatic Crampons. Fast efficient delivery, When I called up the guys were very helpful, organised and know what they are doing!. Great company! Im very pleased! Will be buying again :)

Great boot but I do find I get damp feet in certain conditions

I have had these boots 2 years now, done a variety of winter terrain, heavy snow and rain in the Atlas Mountains, Cairngorms, Lakes and Snowdonia. Overall i am very pleased with the comfort fit of these boots. They are comparitively light but feel super surefooted. My only concern is that I am convinced they are leaking 'a bit.'. Now this could be sweaty feet of course but sometimes my socks are just really wet and the liner is more than just moist it is certainly damp and will take a day to dry out. This is after walking for 4-6 hours and in a variety of terrain. I can understand it after a few hours bog trudging in scotland but not so when just last weekend on the Glyders in snow, albeit mixed snow and ice and just one 'slop' into mud when on the the last few hundred metres to the car. Overall a 4* for me. but with the dampness reservation. Maybe they need a reproof / clean ?
