Designed for technical approach routes, via Ferrata and prolonged use in the mountains, the La Sportiva TX4 GTX is a sturdy and waterproof approach shoe. In the development of this popular shoe, every detail has been studied and refined to provide both comfort and protection whilst guaranteeing enough grip during your approach to be used right up to the base of the wall.
The TX4 GTX is served by a sturdy STB Control system that provides structure and torsion stability, while the hard-wearing waterproof GTX uppers are abrasion-resistant thanks to the PU Techlite all-round rand. The lacing system, inspired by La Sportiva's 'Mythos' climbing shoe, really pulls the shoe around your foot, so you have total confidence in how the shoe encases and supports your foot on uneven ground.
The grippy sole has a smooth 'climbing zone' at the toe to provide maximum rubber contact when standing on small edges. The rear of the sole features the La Sportiva 'Impact Brake System' which puts as many lugs as possible in a small area to absorb impact, but arranged in such a way that there are plenty of sides to the lugs to act as a brake, giving better traction on rough ground. The sole is made from Vibram Mega-Grip a proven winner across a range of approach shoes, providing a great balance of stickiness and durability.
The TX4 GTX are a key part of the La Sportiva Approach Shoe range, and are a serious consideration for those looking for a robust technical approach shoe for long days in the mountains.

I've owned these before in another colour. They suit my wide feet and have plenty of volume around the toes. Snug across the top of the foot and reassuring when skipping across wet rocks. The plimsole line is high so they're pretty good for soggy approaches in N Wales.
