The Black Diamond Women's Momentum Lace Climbing Shoe is an all-day comfort climbing shoe for long sessions at the crag or at the climbing wall. The Momentum Lace is also very well suited for new climbers with its neutral flat last.
This women's model differs the the men's in its range of colours and sizes but most importantly a slightly different last to cater for generally lower volume feet and a slightly different heel shape.
As a comfy lace-up, the fit can be fine-tuned and being a lace-up is not a downside if there is no need to take them off after every route or problem. The shoe is so comfy for various reasons, primarily the shoe has a soft flexible midsole and that the uppers are made from Black Diamonds Engineered Knit Technology, which makes for a very breathable shoe whilst maintaining support and stretch in the shoe where required.
The sticky rubber for the Momentum is moulded rather than cut to the shape of the shoe, meaning that Black Diamond have been able to make the best rand possible for the shoe. At 4.3mm this rubber, being on the thicker side of things, makes for a durable shoe, so they should last pretty well and the negative points for thicker rubber are less pronounced on non-technical shoe anyway.
A great shoe for those looking for their first pair of climbing shoes, or anyone who is looking for a comfortable shoe for all day use, whether inside or outside. Though it should be said the knit feels quite firm at first but will break in.
Sizing: these are quite a small fitting shoe therefore we would recommend going up a full size from your everyday street shoe size.

I've ordered these for both my children. A size 5 is a right fit on my son who's a size 3 in normal shoes. Nice shoes, great price especially for kids first shoes but need at least a couple of sizes larger.
First pair ordered was too small. Couldn't wait for exchange. Ordered another pair. Fit perfectly! Would recommend half size up as they are narrow and tight type. Returned first pair and refund the next day! Will buy again for sure.
Normally a 6/6.5, so ordered a 6.5. They arrived and looked great but they were sadly much too tight. I know climbing shoes are meant to be tight but these were definitely beyond that! So I sent them back (which I had to pay for) and asked for an exchange but this did not happen (but I did get my refund very quickly). However, overall I spent about £9 just on postage and still don’t have climbing shoes so am a little disappointed.
Needed to exchange as I’d misjudged the sizes but was super easy and quick
The shoes were quick to wear in after a couple of uses. Brill for a novice climber. Customer service was also excellent.
