The Edelrid Work Glove Close are comfortable, hard wearing and well designed belay gloves ideal for belaying, big wall climbing and via ferrata.
The palm is constructed from plush calf leather with a double thickness layer at the high wear point on the thumb joint. The back of the glove is composed of a breathable and stretchy synthetic fabric with a hook and loop closure and neoprene cuff. Foam inserts provide a bit of knuckle protection (the gloves could also be used for dry tooling).
The tip of the index finger and thumb are left open to give some extra dexterity (for opening carabiners etc). Pull-off tabs can be cut off if not needed, although as the gloves are reasonably close fitting they definitely help when taking the gloves off!
It is worth noting that these gloves are reasonably small fitting - if in doubt between 2 sizes go for the larger one.
Determine your size from the chart by choosing the larger of the two measurement results.
Palm Girth: Around your dormant hand at the knuckles with your fingers together
Palm Length: From the crease at the base of your wrist (on palm side) to the tip of your middle finger.

This is the second pair of these gloves that I have bought, mainly for hard via ferrata. The full length on the middle finger in particular protects against blisters, where I find half-finger gloves are too short. The grip is good and the open end on the index finger and thumb allows for good dexterity. They are close fitting and comfortable, even managed a straightforward multi-pitch rock climb with them on in cool conditions. Only slight downside is that they don't cope well with getting wet and the grip degrades markedly afterwards. I would thoroughly recommend these gloves for via ferrata or sustained ropework.
