The Evolv Bandit SC builds on the success of the highly popular Bandit Lace model by incorporating a convenient three strap closure system. Having been fortunate enough to test these bad boys out we’d say that none of the great qualities of the lace up have been lost in this version. The Bandit SC is an ideal all around round rock climbing shoe that should certainly be considered by anybody operating in the mid to high grades, and looking for a comfortable non-specialist shoe. As with most of the features of this climbing shoe the sole strikes the happy middle ground – stiff enough to edge well, and yet still sensitive and responsive. The heel is probably the single best feature of the shoe, giving a very secure feel on heel hooks whilst still being comfortable. Unlike slightly more technical models the non-aggressive heel rand ensures the heel will still fit well regardless of whether the shoe is worn at normal shoe size, or 2 sizes down. The 3 opposing strap closure system is now well proven on many rock boots and gives almost as much adjustability as laces, with the greater convenience of straps.

Fit wise the Bandit SC is very similar to the lace up version, being pretty narrow at the forefoot, with quite a pointed toe box and gentle asymmetric last. Maybe not unsurprisingly it is also very similar to the Five Ten Anasazi and Blanco, although without the aggressive Anasazi heel.Overall the Bandit SC will make a great buy for a lot of climbers whether you’re on trad, sport or boulders on all but the steepest angles. The winning blend of comfort, technicality, value for money and dare we say it good looks should see it becoming a common feature at crags and walls around the country.

Great all round shoes. Aggressive

Great all round shoes. Aggressive enough when new for those overhangs but soft enough after broken in for a mountain multi pitch. They do soften up a bits do stretch as they get older so I recommend buying relatively tight. Also good shoes for those of us with high volume feet.

Good anasazi alternative

Replaced a pair of 510 Anasazi Velcros with these and haven't been disappointed. Perhaps a bit softer than the 510s but similar shape and build. Would buy again.

badly made shoes

The shoes performed well. The service was excellent however after a few climbs when i came to wash the shoes i noticed that the glue on the shoes expecially was the heel very messy. When they were made.the glue has been over applied and spiled onto the fa
