The Evolv Royale is a classic all-rounder, ideal for everything from easy to mid grade trad climbing through to indoor entry-level use. Its solid, symmetric profile also makes for a decent, budget crack shoe too.

The Royale provides a sturdy 2mm midsole, making it supportive on long routes or good for those whose feet need more support (beginners).  The partially lined leather upper is super breathable and will stretch slightly with use, moulding to your foot shape, providing a near custom fit over time. The full length lacing system allows for plenty of adjustment for the perfect fit - even for those with overly narrow feet - while the Variable Thickness Rand (VTR) increases durability and life of the shoe.

The toe box of the Evolv Royale is a little more symmetrical than many others on the market, making the it a good option for those with a longer second toe than big toe - Greek Toe as it is sometimes known.

  • Medium stiffness for edging and jamming support
  • Breathable mesh tongue with lace pocket and perforated upper

Long middle toes

This seems to be the only shoe on the market for the significant number of people whose big toe is not their longest. Asymmetric shoes crush my middle toes while my big toe doesn't reach the end. These fit. I bought two pairs while they were available. No hassle returns to get the right size and fast delivery.

Good shoes, amazing price

I have used these half a dozen times , for bouldering. I purchased them for an unbelievable price of £29.95, which is cheaper than a resole. I have just started climbing again after a 20 year break and found my previous boots just felt too painful. I purchased my normal shoe size and they came up tolerably tight, so about right for a performance / comfort compromise. The sole is quite stiff so I don't feel the rock too well, but the upside is that there's enough rubber for a long life. The toe is also quite wide, so not great for pockets, but much better for my toes. They seem well constructed and friction on gritstone slabs is better than my previous boots which had been resoled in stealth. I understand that these are classed as beginners boots, but I'm confident they'll be fine up to 6a. So , I ordered second pair!

Great Value

I went with the advice on the shoe sizing guide which said to buy your normal shoe size for a category D climber. This is my 3rd pair of rock shoes and I'm still not sure what "comfortable" should feel like. I've worn these 3 times and they still feel a bit on the small side. I think a half size larger might have been more suitable, but I'm hoping these stretch with wear. Other than that, they are well made and exceptional value for under 30 quid. Would have given 5 star if it wasn't for the fitting issue.
