Extraordinary Climbs DVD

Today Britain's great crags have been thoroughly explored by successive generations - so what remains for today's bold, ambitious rock athletes?

From the makers of the award-winning Great Climb, two outstanding films showcasing one of the world's best climbers Dave MacLeod. The First Great Climb is a moving tribute to three almost forgotten men who, in 1867, made the perilous sea crossing to the uninhabited Hebridean island of Handa, just off the west coast of Sutherland. Their mission was to be the first people to stand on the top of an isolated pillar of rock, the Great Stac. Failure would have meant certain death. Success, won against all the odds, gave birth to modern climbing.

In Climbing... No Limits! Dave MacLeod and Alan Cassidy travel south of the Border to the heart of the English climbing scene. In an astonishing week they attempt two innovative first ascents. One is deep underground, in Jingling Pot, North Yorkshire. After a nerve wracking descent Dave and Alan must inch their way up slimy, wet rock to the light. The second climb is in the huge entrance to Peak Cavern in Derbyshire, where they are the first to be allowed to attempt a sport climb in this historic location.
