An evolution in the species. The G-14 crampons combine the technical performance of forged vertical frontpoints, with the low profile collapsible frame of the G-12, to make an altogether fresh modular and customizable crampon suited to many climbing disciplines.
Grivel's success and experience with the Rambo crampons reinforces the validity of forged points: they penetrate hard ice better, with less vibration and offer the opportunity to combine vertical and horizontal axis.
Front points are simple to configure on the G14 allowing the user to build mono or dual point crampons and replace worn points easily. The low profile of the crampon frame places the climber's foot closer to rock or ice and is less prone to balling up.
At last alpine climbing crampons with the technical performance of their ice and modern mixed counterparts.

These crampons are great as they actually fit my size 6, narrow salewa b2 boots. However making them fit involved brute force. Despite claiming to fit much smaller boots than mine the makers clearly put little effort into testing this. The crampons change size easily until length 6 but for smaller sizes the linking bar hits against the back inside point. With a hammer and quite some effort the bar can be forced through but I won't be changing them to other boots anytime soon. At such an expensive price I would expect such an obvious flaw to have been fixed before production.
I brought these for a winter alpine mountaineering trip to the french alps and absolutely loved these. We mainly stuck to ice climbing and these were perfect. Couldn't recommend them highly enough. Brilliant service!
