The Grivel Helix is a well priced mountaineering tool that has been specifically developed for Scottish winter mountaineering and ski touring in the UK.
Taking up from where its predecessor, the Munro left off, the Grivel Helix is a superbly lightweight ice axe that provides a classic straight shaft, large adze, long leash and point protector. The Helix also comes with a neat little addition to the head of the axe; a PU palm protector which not only provides a more ergonomic grip, but also minimises heat transfer and reduces wear to your gloves. This is removable if you don't want it too.

Great price. Excellent, quick delivery.
love this axe so light but strong just what you need up the hills in winter you walk with more convidence with it in the hills
I purchased this axe shortly before my first Alpine climbing adventure, in France Italy and Switzerland. I initially thought it may be a piece of kit that I was required to have but would barely use...how wrong I was! Initially booked as a climb Mont Blanc trip, we realised shortly after arriving that this would not be possible due to bad weather. Instead we made the summit of Gran Paradiso Italy and Alphubel, Switzerland, plus a day scrambling ridges at higher altitude. All of the above meant that my axe was in constant use for the week and I have to say it didn't disappoint. Lightweight, which was a huge plus on a 10 hour climb, and very useable even for a beginner, definitely a tool that you are putting your life in the hands of to some extent on the hill. I was hoping to carry on using my axe through the winter in the U.K, however during the decent of Alphubel, I fell into a hidden crevasse as the ice gave way under foot, the ropes of course did their job, however I let go of my axe and it disappeared into the unknown, destined to spend forever in that glacier (until it melts). I will literally buy the same axe from Rock & Run, good price and the delivery was really quick.
