The Kahtoola MICROspikes are traction spikes that you slip over your footwear to provide grip on walking trails when in snowy, icy or muddy weather.

Now with a 50% lower profile elastomer harness, the MICROspikes also have updated and improved eyelet reinforcements and an integrated toe bale. They also continue to boast complete stainless steel construction for all metal components and now include welded chains. All of these improvements have resulted in an improved fit with better performance and a 13% total weight reduction over the previous model...and they come with a carry bag.

Please Note: These are NOT full crampons, and are NOT designed for mountaineering or serious winter fell walking.

    Polar Circle Tested!

I bought these as the recommended brand for the Polar Circle Marathon in Greenland which has the first section actually on the ice cap. These spikes performed beyond expectations, so I felt sure-footed even running on the slopes of solid ice. When moving to the less slippery part of the course, the spikes were very quick to remove and slip back in their tote bag. I genuinely can't fault them in any aspect.

    Crampons kahtoola microspikes

    Good grip, no gripes.

These are brilliant and outperform other makes I have tried. Used in a ski resort getting around icy pavements.

So there will be some snow, eh?

What a great piece of gear. I was expecting some increased traction, of course, but as I pushed them to see how far these little spikes would support me, I was blown away by what they could handle me doing. That, coupled with the fact they take 30 seconds to slip on makes for an almost an embarrassingly good tool for anything you don’t need a full blown crampon to climb.
