Light. Warm (I start work early). Sweats a few feathers when new, seems to have settled now. The jacket would be spring/autumn/mid layer on the mountains. Not built for rough. Squeezes into a 1L dry bag, so good for emergency warmth in the rucksack.
I wasn't sure until my friend walked in with one on. I bought one the moment he left. I couldn't get black at the time so I got the light/blue. I'm trying very hard to find fault with it and I'm struggling. The design is superb, a really good fit with adequate length (it covers the small of my back), the hood is fantastic with plenty of adjustment available. I can wear my head torch easily underneath it (It's a petzl rechargeable). The pockets and zips.....first class. I particularly like the internal stuff pockets which are just magic....oh the external pockets are fleece lined as well. My personal issue with the pockets is that they are so good I fill them and I look like a fatty. It's a choice though. Now if you've got this far be warned. This is a mid layer jacket. Wear under a wind proof and over a thermal T shirt and you'll be very comfortable. Wear over a T shirt and you may well get cold. So I don't understand what the 800 fill means, particularly as I purchased a 600 fill jacket 12 months ago and I can comfortably wear it in just T shirt in minus, windy conditions. The design of Outdoor Research though blows the other jacket away. In the end I bought another for my Grandson. He loves it too. Outdoor Research take bow!
