Petzl Hirundos Harness (2021)

1 review   |

The Petzl Hirundos Harness is a top of the range, lightweight and comfortable, performance harness, designed for sport and alpine climbing.

Using Fuseframe technology, the Petzl Hirundos Harness is sleek, slim and lightweight, yet retains comfortability through the padded waist-belt. The tie-in points are durable with improved resistance to rope friction, and the leg loops are super flexible, allowing you to step in with comfort and ease. There are 4 good sized gear loops with the front pair stiffened for quick and easy access to your gear, and the back pair sloping towards the front keeping everything in closer reach. The back pair of gear loops are also flexible to reduce any pressure points if a rucksack is being worn.

There are new and updated buckles which allow you to adjusting your harness quickly and easily, Dyneema tie in points for strength and resistance to abrasion, two integrated Petzl Caritool holder slots, a rear loop for hauling, and two rear elastics on detachable buckles to avoid crossing leg loops when donning the harness. This is an ideal harness for most modern climbers. Not the best choice for beginners gnarling their way up chimneys or for the high-wear environment of big walls but for cragging, lightweight alpinism and mountain rock this harness is just superb.

      Hirundos -

I bought this harness purposely with the view to using it in a sport climbing scenario only. I dont think it is the best for use in trad. The gear loops are good but there are more harnesses out there with more functionality for that job. For sport climbing though, it does exactly what I want it for. Very light, compact and quite comfy for a stripped back harness I found the leg loops to stay where I wanted them so they didn't interfere with my leg movements. I took some small falls on it and hung about it but didn't find it uncomfortable. The gear loops keep my draws out of the way until I need them. The belt buckle is easy to use. All in all, it is a very good harness for what I need it for, on a budget the works for me.
