Snug fitting steep stuff shoe. Good for dancin in not bad for heel hooks either
I've always loved the fit of Scarpa - I've got wide feet, Morton's toe and a large heel, meaning brands such as La Sportiva and Five Ten are generally ill-fitting. Since Evolv stopped making the Shaman 1's I've been searching for a technical, but comfortable shoe that catered for those with "feet with girth". These shoes, if you can get the right size, are almost perfect The shoe itself is soft and supple, yet the toe box and heel reaasurangly firm and supportive. If the Scarpa Instinct S and Evolv Shaman ever hooked up after a drunken night out, this would be their love child. Tyoically with new climbing shoes I'm jabbing my toes into the climbing wall, missing the sweet spot of the hold while I'm breaking them in indoors. With these, the feel you get through the thin rubber is incredible. As soon as you put them on it's like you've already climbed 3-4 sessions in them, as long as they fit right. Which brings me to why they're *almost* perfect: I had to order three different sizes to finally get to the perfect size. As the upper is incredibly thin together got to be wary of buying too small in case your toe-knuckles rip through the top. Buy too big and you'll end up scraping away what little rubber is already there before getting past your warm up. However, get it just right (and thankfully Scarpa do half-euro sizes) and this shoe will give you the confidence and feel to chase your next big project.
fine - Shoes do what they should Rock and Run were great.
