The Scarpa Charmoz OD is an essential two-season mountain boot that is ultra-breathable and light, making it perfect for trekking and light alpinism.

The Outdry® membrane lamination that keeps the foot dry whether you are trekking in the greater ranges with a big pack or picking your way up a Scottish gully in winter. The uppers of the Charmoz OD are constructed from a combination of L-Tech and Microtech synthetic leathers internally bonded to an Outdry® membrane - this is ultra-breathable, fully waterproof and highly durable. The inclusion of Memory foam, Autofit Collar, a renewed lacing system and the fact that they’re built on the very popular NAG last means that the fit is supportive where it needs to be, precise and yet will fit a wide variety of foot shapes and volumes.

All of this innovation and quality sits atop the new Pentax Precision II XT sole unit, Vibram outsole and is crampon rated to B2.

What is OutDry®?
OutDry® is an innovative Italian technology developed specifically to waterproof footwear, gloves and other clothing items where the standard manufacturing techniques based on seam-sealed waterproof fabrics (e.g. Gore-Tex) cannot be utilised as efficiently. Thanks to the OutDry® patented lamination process, the waterproof/ breathable membrane is directly bonded to the interior of the shoe or glove, perfectly sealing any possible water entry point.

Main Advantages of OutDry®

  • The external layer and the membrane are a unique body; no space in between for water to collect.
  • Water penetration and absorbency are minimised so so weight does not increase in the wet.
  • The membrane has a very high capacity of water vapour permeability.
  • The is no seam sealing tape (as with Gore-Tex), enabling OutDry to exploit 100% of the membrane breathable surface.
  • Keeps a large volume of dry air between the skin and the membrane, reducing the risk of dew condensation.

    Scarpa Charmoz OD......Excellent!

Perfect for Ben Nevis solid boots! wore them in rain, Hail. deep snow, through, puddles, streams across various rocky Terrain and wood. Great fit and very comfortable. Kept my feet, warm, dry and protected. They come up a bit small so bought a couple of sizes up. Perfect with Grivel G12 Newmatic Crampons. Fast efficient delivery, When I called up the guys were very helpful, organised and know what they are doing!. Great company! Im very pleased! Will be buying again :)

Great boot but I do find I get damp feet in certain conditions

I have had these boots 2 years now, done a variety of winter terrain, heavy snow and rain in the Atlas Mountains, Cairngorms, Lakes and Snowdonia. Overall i am very pleased with the comfort fit of these boots. They are comparitively light but feel super surefooted. My only concern is that I am convinced they are leaking 'a bit.'. Now this could be sweaty feet of course but sometimes my socks are just really wet and the liner is more than just moist it is certainly damp and will take a day to dry out. This is after walking for 4-6 hours and in a variety of terrain. I can understand it after a few hours bog trudging in scotland but not so when just last weekend on the Glyders in snow, albeit mixed snow and ice and just one 'slop' into mud when on the the last few hundred metres to the car. Overall a 4* for me. but with the dampness reservation. Maybe they need a reproof / clean ?

Great boots, shame on a lack 9f sizes

Great boots baight these for a trek to everest base camp as a replacement for a pair of scarpa freny xt. They come up small.on sizes so had to send them back and order a larger size from somewhere else. Great boots

    Great boot

Takes a bit of wearing in but very impressed with performance of traction, support, comfort and the outdry performance - a full day of waterlogged ground then slush then snow from walk in to climb and feet were warm and dry, not something I’ve experienced with any Goretex lined equivalent for any length of time. Happy customer!
