The Scarpa Marmolada Pro OD is a lightweight and versatile mountaineering boot suitable for very technical trekking trails and mountain walks/scrambles.

With an upper in suede leather and L-Tech inserts, made with the Sock-Fit XT construction system on a special last, the Marmolada Pro OD is designed specifically for trekking. The side of the upper has a thermo-embossed exoskeleton that provides the feet with more lateral support.

Typical lacing-up-to-the-toe found on climbing footwear means that you can customisable the fit depending on the terrain, making Marmolada Pro OD a boot also suitable for very technical trekking trails and mountain walks/ Scrambles. A semi-rigid lasting board ensures the right balance between precision and comfort during the heel-to-toe transition. The Vibram Drumlin outsole includes a low density EVA insert in the heel area for better shock absorbing while the OUTDRY® membrane ensures durable weather protection and breathability.

What is OutDry®?
OutDry® is an innovative Italian technology developed specifically to waterproof footwear, gloves and other clothing items where the standard manufacturing techniques based on seam-sealed waterproof fabrics (e.g. Gore-Tex) cannot be utilised as efficiently. Thanks to the OutDry® patented lamination process, the waterproof/ breathable membrane is directly bonded to the interior of the shoe or glove, perfectly sealing any possible water entry point.

Main Advantages of OutDry®

  • The external layer and the membrane are a unique body; no space in between for water to collect.
  • Water penetration and absorbency are minimised so weight does not increase in the wet.
  • The membrane has a very high capacity of water vapour permeability.
  • The is no seam sealing tape (as with Gore-Tex), enabling OutDry to exploit 100% of the membrane breathable surface.
  • Keeps a large volume of dry air between the skin and the membrane, reducing the risk of dew condensation.

      Scarpa Marmolada Pro OD

As ever with Scarpa footwear they were fantastically comfortable straight from the box. The weight was just right for mountain walking in a warmer climate (in this case the Alicante mountains of Spain) but I should imagine they would be equally at home in the North West Highlands of Scotland in winter. Rock and Run delivery service also matched the excellence of the footwear and I would definitely consider buying from them in the future.

Good boot - but be mindful of size

I bought this boot as a light weight summer boot, and they fitted well from day one and are very comfortable. if you are looking to cross deep streams etc with these you could get your feet wet as water comes in very easily over the top, so if you are walking boggy wet country then puttees or gaiters are needed. The boot is well put together easy to lace and is well profiled so you can feel the edge when scrambling. My foot size is such I am at the top of the size 45 range and bottom of the size 46 range. I tried both and decided the 46 was for me however the boot has slackend off with use and it is bigger than I would like. Now waiting for a sale to get a 45

      Usual Scarpa quality!

Excellent boots straight out of the box. Lacing system is good and despite the boots feeling relatively soft they manage to feel very secure. Lightweight yet robust, first time out with them i did 5 Munros and couldn’t fault the boots at all. My knees were on fire but my feet were brand new! Can’t comment on what they’re like in the wet as I’ve not been out in anything heavy yet but can’t imagine a bit of rain will cause a problem.
