It's thick and fairly plush but with a R rating of 1.7 you'll need to supplement it with a karimat or some such. I used it in Spain with a ridgerest mat in February and it was adequate without I would've been very chilly. . A little thin for side sleeping; I grounded out slightly at a comfortable pressure. Basically my recommendation would be consider a neoair or a more durable warmer one - the weight saving is a fiction with this mat as you'll heft around another mat to make it viable in anything other than summer conditions. And remember that you'll use a mat for years and the expense will be recouped by many nights warm, comfortable rest. Hope that helps.
