The dust has settled, grades have been discussed and finally we have the low down on Stefano Ghisolfi’s second ascent of Bibliographie. It seems only fitting then, that this week’s video focusses on Ghisolfi’s iconic ascent, taking an in depth look at the route and its torturous limestone holds. In typical limestone fashion, the holds are characteristically small, sharp and pockety with the crux sections proving to be as beautiful as they are mind blowingly difficult.

After clipping the chains on the final day of his first season in Ceuse, Ghisolfi proposed a grade of 9b+ for the route, controversially claiming that it hadn’t felt more difficult than Perfecto Mundo or Change – both graded 9b+. In a series of Instagram posts about the route, Stefano stated, ‘I would have been happy to be the third person to have climbed 9c, but in my heart I know I'm not (yet)’. Having found alternative beta for the crux sections of the route, Ghisolfi claimed the second ascent far quicker than Alex Megos who responded by claiming that external pressures had influenced his grading of the climb.
