These are some of the lightest and most versatile crampons on the market. Ideal for winter hiking, trail running, glacier travel and non-technical mountaineering.
The Kahtoola Traction System (KTS) fits over all types of footwear - running shoes hiking boots ski boots. Straps and quick-release buckles on both the toe and collapsible heel pieces make it easy to adjust; and when you're not wearing them the KTS folds into a compact package.
The KTS Steel is the best choice for snow and ice travel over abusive terrain when durability and sharpness are more important than weight.

Obviously not for technical climbing, but these worked brilliantly on my Salomon X Ultras for winter walking over longer distances. They didn't budge and gave great confidence over icey and snowy ground. No balling despite not fitting the anti-balling plates.
After 1 hour use they have about had it. I used them to help me get through some icy patches on a short section of a walk (exactly the sort of thing you'd carry these for). I only wore them for maybe an hour and in that time the bar has bent out of shape, the anti balling attachment has begun to tear and the fabric straps are showing signs of wear. These might be ok for pure snow conditions but it's rare you get that in the UK and for our conditions I doubt they would last a season. Definitely not recommended, carry the extra weight and get some normal crampons.
MY FIRST EXPERIENCE USING CRAMPONS. I USE THEM FOR FORESTRY WALKING IN SNOW AND ICE CONDITIONS. FIRST CLASS, NO COMPLAINTS WHATSOEVER. ADJUSTABLE FITTING OK, STAY IN PLACE ONCE FITTED, FLEXIBLE, PLENTY OF GRIP ON PURE ICE SURFACE, OK IN SNOW. PERFECTLY SOUND.

Bought for winter walking using my normal summer boots. Was glad I fit them to my boots inadvance of getting out, but they were quick to get on and off and fitted my boots well. I hoped that they would also fit my partners boots (size 9) but I think would have been a bit too tight in the small size. Lighter than the grivel G10 that also fits boots, but a little less agressive
