With persistent rain threatening to dominate the next week up here in the Lake District, it looks like we might have to give climbing a miss and don our fell running shoes for that next adventurous hit. This weekend’s psyche video comes from the king of mountain running and the Bob Graham record holder himself, Kilian Jornet. Here he keeps it local with a fast and light multi-day mission in his spectacular Norwegian backyard, traversing the grand and undulating ridges overlooking the Moldefjorden coast.
This is often my go-to if I’m in need of a bit of motivation, especially when there’s an all-nighter in the offing – the way Jornet traverses this incredible landscape is truly inspiring and even, at times, pretty bold. Being on board with a solo Kilian (via his GoPro) as he experiences every emotion this ultra-run has to throw at him is a rarity too, with him usually being the feature of somebody else’s sensationalised narrative; a welcome reminder that even the best amongst us suffers. Kilian’s incredible feats of endurance serve us the perfect example of the what the human body is capable of, now get those shoes on and get out there!
