The Scarpa Phantom Tech HD is a technical B3 mountain boot for cold-weather mountaineering and ice climbing.
Extremely lightweight, precise and with a comfortable fit, the Scarpa Phantom Tech HD boots offer great finesse. The new waterproof gaiter design uses PU Tek technology to create a lightweight but highly durable outer with a high degree of feel. This new technology also helps to reduce the overall weight by 110g, making the Phantom Tech the lightest boot in its class.
Scarpa has also incorporated the H-Dry technology which possesses the highest level of waterproofness, breathability and insulation a boot can have. The waterproof and breathable membrane is firmly laminated to the upper inner side and there are no gaps or seams where water can penetrate inside. The rain and cold are blocked out of the shoe's outer surface and this large volume of air helps to keep your feet warm and comfortable.
The inner shell features a Primaloft 100 insulation layer and incorporates 100 g/m² Primaloft Gold insulation Eco with grip control made from 100% recycled micropile. This offers you outstanding warmth and manages moisture extremely well so your feet remain comfortable in damp wet conditions. The lace lock system have been reinforced with kevlar yarns for added durability.
Scarpa has also introduced RECCO technology to the Phantom Tech HD for added safety. The RECCO reflector makes you searchable to professional rescuers in the event of an avalanche accident or injury.
The sole rubber is made from Vibram-Durastep which is exclusive to the design, a compound able to offer the highest reliability on the most difficult terrains at low temperatures. The sole unit features a technology called Precision Tewch Roll AC/D. At the rear of the sole, you can find a Bi-Density PU midsole which has a medium-density PU for extra support and stability in the heel. Cloer to the front of the boot, you can find the same Bi-Density TPU midsole but with a lower density, this offers a light cushion and added density for technical footwork whilst climbing.
Beat that!

This is the pinnacle of technical climbing mountain boots - and proof that Scarpa listen to feedback and make changes. The previous version did not have variable lacing - these do and they allow you to get exactly the fit you need by dialling in different tension over the foot and ankle. Scarpa have also added more protection where needed on the upper instep - this is where crampons are most likley to catch. The uppers are themselves are really robust and waterproof and the boot is incredibly light and warm. The primaloft insulation is not quite as much as a double boot, but unless you're out for multiple days it's not an issue and the dexterity and feel is so much better than that of a double boot. They are also supremely comfortable out of the box and great for long approaches, so much so that they will be my do-it-all boot for everything. They're brilliant - the best version yet.....can't see what else they would change other than giving them wings...
