This is easily the best 'camping extravagance' purchase I've made in years. Spent 8 nights camping in Pembroke during a cold spell in September and can't fault the mat for comfort and warmth - it was more comfortable than any bunkhouse or hostel bed I've used and I slept very well, and warmly too. This is strictly for car campers though as it's about the same size as a 30L rucksack when compressed, and you will almost certainly need a 3-man tent to comfortably inflate and deflate it. The mat will work well for couples who don't fidget too much in their sleep but will be a squeeze if you like to spread out or are on the taller/wider side.
The only reason I've not given the mat the full 5 stars is that the foam on one half of the mat still appears to be quite compressed even though I followed the instructions about inflating it and leaving it to self-inflate for 24h when I first got it. This is still the case having deflated and reinflated it a few times, with the result that the mat doesn't uniformly self-inflate and is a bit less supportive on one half of it, but I haven't found the compressed foam to have compromised warmth or comfort. Overall, if you've got the cash to spare and plan to camp for more than just a couple of nights with your partner, this will significantly improve your quality of sleep.
