The La Sportiva Aequilibrium Trek boasts beefier construction compared to its sibling, the Aequilibrium Hike. While the Hike is ideal for quick and easy day hikes, the Trek offers enhanced safeguarding and stability with its taller ankle cuff and sturdy leather exterior. But don't let that fool you - this boot also offers unbeatable comfort and flexibility, making it the top choice for rugged mountain adventures and extended backpacking trips with heavy packs.
La Sportiva know-how and technology drawn from the world of mountaineering have gone into developing the perfect boot for long treks and backpacking expeditions: an excellent compromise between technical performance and comfort. Smooth foot rolling and natural support are ensured by the Double Heel™ sole construction, while maximum uphill traction and downhill braking force control are provided by the Impact Brake System™. The resoleable tread extends the life of the product and ensures
Regular fit with a reasonably wide forefoot with medium volume. We recommend going half a size up from your regular shoe size.

3-season walking/mountain hiking - walking below the snow line. Although these boots will take a set of microspikes or flexible walking crampons if needed as a last resort.

Having used the stiffer B2 version of this boot I thought this would be ideal for Scotland when a crampon wasn’t required. Haven’t disappointed. If the narrow fit suits, this boot with is double heel is highly recommended.
Hi James,
Thanks for your review. We couldn't agree more. The whole Aequilibrium range has been a success story.
Happy Hiking, Rain or Shine.
All the best

I have put about 20 miles on these in short 5 mile walks. Initial impressions are positive. I have average width feet and narrow heels. These fit perfectly. I would say the sizing is a little more generous than most La Sportiva, which generally run narrow. The actual foot of the boot was comfortable straight out the box. Where I have had issues, is the ankle area, in particular where it transitions from leather to synthetic. There are reinforcements embedded in the material, which for me, dug into my ankle bone. Switching socks from a thin Darn Tough to a thicker pair of Smartwool has alleviated some of this discomfort so hopefully as a break them in, the problem will go away. Where these boots excel, is the sole unit. I have used them on wet grass, rock, loose gravel and up easy scrambling routes. They excel in all areas. Grip is consistent and predictable-the heal brake in particular is the best I have experienced on any boot. I have read a few reviews where people complain about stones getting trapped-I haven’t experienced that. In summary, if you are looking for a multipurpose three season boot, these will take you up any mountain in the UK with ease and equally, be just as comfortable for a short hike with the family. Rock + Run are selling them at a great price with free next day delivery which is an outstanding deal. In my opinion, there is not a better general three season boot on the market.
