The La Sportiva Aequilibrium ST GTX is a lightweight synthetic mountain boot, compatible with semi automatic crampons. It has been designed for alpine walking, trekking, glacier crossings and other mixed terrain, plus scrambling and via ferrata.
One of the defining features of the Aequilibrium is the Double Heel™ combined with the existing La Sportiva Impact Brake System. The Impact Brake System is very common amongst La Sportiva footwear. To summarise the sole has specific shaped angular lugs that have extra surface area to act as a brake whilst ascending or descending, whilst retaining plenty of rubber for impact protection. The Double Heel™ is added to this setup to provide even more braking than normal when walking downhill, plus the back lug is angled to provide a rolling motion when stepping down heel first.
The boot feels great when put on. Your ankles feel very well supported and cushioned. Combined with the 3D Flex System Evo™ directional joint you still have plenty of movement in the ankle area whilst retaining all the support which ultimately gives great confidence with the control and support offered. Also of note is what feels like a more open and softer stretch area high up on the back of the boot to give more give when walking and less pressure on the back of your ankle and achilles.
The construction of the boot is from lightweight, yet still durable materials, particularly the TPU shell around the toe and heel to protect against the sharp rocks and the like.
Overall the La Sportiva Aequilibrium ST GTX is a very impressive boot that is comfortable to wear with some great new technology that reduces muscle fatigue and provides great comfort and support.

I usually walk/hike in trail running shoes, so I am not used to boots. These feel very light and their fit is snug. I went up half a size.
Brilliant boots so comfortable and crampons fit well. No foot fatigue after 10 miles, certainly recommend them 👍
incredible to hike in. Don’t feel like my feet overheat. Sturdy, good for approaches. I’ve bought a few other notable brands at this price point and they don’t compare sorry to say
