Sales and Customer Service (Jun 2025)

Our showroom has become a go-to destination for climbers, mountaineers, and outdoor enthusiasts, thanks to our commitment to offering an exceptional in-person experience. Due to growing demand—both in-store and online—we’re looking for an experienced, passionate salesperson to join our team. This role also includes contributing to other areas of the business, such as warehouse operations and admin tasks.

About the role

In this role, you’ll deliver exceptional service while sharing your knowledge and passion for outdoor gear. Your responsibilities will include:

Sales

  • Creating a positive shopping experience for walk-ins and appointment-based customers.
  • Maintaining expert-level product knowledge.
  • Managing showroom upkeep and merchandising.

Customer Service

  • Responding to inquiries via email, phone, and live chat professionally and promptly.
  • Processing returns and handling orders or complaints.

Additional Tasks

Alongside your sales and customer service duties, you’ll also support warehouse operations and basic admin work as needed, based on daily priorities. These tasks may include:

  • Assisting with deliveries, restocking, and managing supplier backorders.
  • Helping with picking and packing online orders.
  • Updating product prices using supplier price lists.
  • Supporting website maintenance under manager guidance (e.g., updating sizing guides, tidying category pages).

    Is This Role For You? We’re Looking For Someone Who:

    • Is available to work Saturdays.
    • Is an outdoor enthusiast with in-depth knowledge of climbing, mountaineering, or trail/fell running.
    • Has excellent people skills and thrives in a sales environment.
    • Possesses strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • Is IT-competent and eager to learn.
    • Has a strong grasp of the English language.

     

    What We Offer

    Contract & Salary

    • Full-time position (5 days/week, 8:45 am – 5:00 pm).
    • Starting with a 6-month probationary period.
    • Salary: £24,000 - £26,000 per year.
    • 20 days of holiday plus Bank Holidays.
    • Immediate start available.

    We currently open one Saturday a month, with plans to increase this. By applying for this role, you are committing to working additional Saturdays as they are added to the schedule.

    Rock+Run has specialised in retailing equipment for mountain enthusiasts since 1983 and our reputation for customer service and efficiency in this field is renowned throughout the outdoor sector. Since first launching our website and the web-sales portion of our business back in 1994 we have been an industry leader in web retail and this is something we strive to maintain and uphold. 2023 welcomed a return to in person shopping with the launch of our showroom and personal shopping service.

    We are in Sandside which is located just off the A6 at Milnthorpe. Sandside is a 15 to 25 minute drive from Kendal or Lancaster respectively. Our location offers easy access and parking in a pleasant rural setting with climbing, bouldering and running close by.
