Grivel Explorer Micro Crampons

Size:S

The Grivel Explorer Micro Crampons are lightweight packable spikes for walkers, trekkers and runners who encounter ice and snow on lower angled, non-technical terrain.

These types of crampons or spikes are very practical and are great for all types of users. From hill walkers at the change of seasons, where paths can be icy towards the summits, or climbers who will have ice and snow patches to cross before their route of choice. They are also great for regular walkers and runners on their footpaths near home.

The Explorer has 14 steel points with anti-corrosion treatment, these spikes are hardwearing, relatively short and therefore stable. The rubber webbing means the crampons can be worn over a range of footwear from running shoes to walking and mountain boots. The Explorer also features a back lace which allows for some adjustment to the fit.

The Grivel Explorer are a fine addition to the micro crampon market which has been gaining more and more popularity over the years. Perfect for slippery terrain such as snow, ice and even mud.

Glacier walking with Grivel Micro Crampons

Robust, well-made, easy to put on and get off our hiking boots and a game-changer for high altitude hiking on snow/ice - glacier in our case. UK size 10 is XL, and UK size 8 is a L. Outstanding

Amazing traction, be careful with sizing

From a performance point of view these are simply fantastic. Light and flexible enough to barely notice you're wearing them except that suddenly grip levels are through the roof. Haven't experienced any balling at all, even in really wet and claggy snow.

I'm a size 10 (44) boot and had to get the XL version. Gave the L ones to my partner who is size 6 and they're slightly on the large size for her.

      Excellent Product - Check Sizing

I bought these for low level walking in Scottish winter when full-on rigid mountain boots and crampons aren't required.

They are well made and of all the 'spikes' out there these most closely resemble proper crampons.

The sizing was completely wrong however - for boots at least - and sadly I've had to return them as there is no way they will fit.

Don't let that put you off, it's a great product and once correctly sized and fitted will do all you could ask of them.

      Grovel Explorer

Used in Cairngorm ski touring, on Helvellyn on hard ice paths and in the Alps to get to decent paragliding takeoffs. Reassuring within their limitations, light enough to be permanently in my rucksack (in winter) and robust enough to have endured many miles of mixed snow, rock and ice paths.
