A really neat feature on the Shortrail II, and all Shortrail models for that matter, is the adjustable waist belt. In an aim to keep the Shortrail as light as possible, the waist belt on every model is trim-to-fit which allows you to customise the fit and trim away any excess material on the waist belt. This vastly reduces bulk, weight and the need for lots of extra useless buckles which is a definite win in our book.
