Mammut Taiss Light Mid GTX

Colour:Black/Arumita
Black/Arumita
Size:UK 7

The Mammut Taiss Light Mid GTX is part of a new generation of lightweight, B2 crampon compatible mountaineering boots. At just 555g (UK8), not only are they super lightweight - but lasting durability is provided by the highest quality materials for excellent performance in alpine terrain.

Three of the main groundbreaking new technologies incorporated within this boot include Contact Control, Vibram Litebase®, and Mammut's Georganic 3D Technology - ensuring the optimum balance between lightness, durability and performance.

Contact Control: A carbon plate has been placed between two PU cushioned layers within the midsole - cushioning impact while walking, with a precise and close to ground feeling in the forefoot for standing on the smallest of edges.

Vibram Litebase: Less weight, with the same performance - Vibram Litebase is formed using a unique process which stabilizes the sole and reduces it by at least 30%

Georganic 3D Technology: 3D moulded memory foam heel cup and ankle support, 3D arch support to prevent pronation, and a mono elastic tongue to reduce pressure points when laced.

    Brilliant straight out the box

I took a risk with these as I had them delivered just before a trip to France to hike in the Vosges mountains and did not have a chance to really try them indoors but....

They were a fantastic choice. They eased up slightly on in the first 5k and were comfortable for the whole 20k hike across completely mixed terrain. Amazing grip top notch support and no overheating as they don't have insulation but are definitely a warm enough boot for UK winters.

They were also just as amazing the day after for and 15k

Light, fit well, great tread pattern, but a bit bendy for a B2.

I love these boots. Some reviews I've read say that they have a narrow toe box but they don't (and I have wide feet).
The pattern and compound of the the sole give them superior wet surface grip than some other boots I have.
They are very lightweight, almost half of my Nepal Cube, and the sole (but not the tread) is thinner than usual.
They are bendier than my 3-season Trezeta boots but somehow are still rated B2. I haven't put a crampon on them yet and will be interested to find out which make is a good fit.
