Giuliano Cameroni – Off the Wagon (8C+/V16) | Weekly Video

This week’s video hit comes straight from the beautiful Swiss valley of Val Bavona where we’re spoiled rotten with Swiss native, Giuliano Cameroni’s fourth ascent of Off the Wagon Low (8C+/V16). Off the Wagon’s original standing line is perhaps the most iconic boulder problem in the world, originally being discovered by Dave Graham with Nalle Hukkataival claiming the first ascent in 2012. The line is one of the purest extreme boulders out there with an excruciating two-move sequence followed by an aesthetically pleasing, although relatively easy, set of campus moves.

Shawn Rabatou added a long-awaited sit start to the problem in 2018, crouching off the farmer’s wagon to add a crazy lower sequence to the climb with some unreal moves that require next level body tension. With this extension, Shawn graded the problem 8C+, making it the hardest boulder in Switzerland and a considerable 2 grades harder than its original 8B+ stand start. Giuliano becomes the fourth person to climb the extended route but, in typical Cameroni style, found a slightly different sequence that negated the need for big, swinging moves and instead utilised his absurd body tension and finger strength. Despite the inventive beta, this one still looks incredible – check it out!
