Evolv Defy Lace

Size: UK 11

Evolv's Defy Lace is not only a top-selling unisex climbing shoe, but also a versatile option for all levels of climbers. With multiple technical upgrades, it offers an even better experience for beginners and advanced climbers alike. The Defy is technical enough to smear along slabby terrain or grip an overhang, and comfortable enough for a day climbing indoors, or a multi-pitch epic.

Evolv Size Suggestion:

Max Performance: use your street shoe size for an ultra-snug fit.

Performance Fit: add a ½ size to your street shoe for a snug fit that is still comfortable to wear for a full session.

Comfort Fit: add 1 to 1.5 sizes to your street shoe.

The most notable quality is the anatomical fit for greater out of the box fit and comfort. A synthetic upper will keep the shoe from overly stretching and a nice padded and breathable tongue adds a functional and comfortable surface for the two velcro tabs to wrap around. Evolv have also built-in a new anti-microbial mesh material known as Agion to eliminate odour and bacteria build up.

The Defy retains Evolv's VTR (Variable Thickness Rand) technology. VTR is a new technology that makes the toe rand in differing thicknesses. Basically, high wear zones are thicker and more durable than other areas, this enhances the toe box structure and prevents toe bulge. It also means that there is less waste during the manufacturing process so it's better for the environment!

Overall, a great shoe that will stay comfortable from the first time you put them on but still let you climb hard.

      Sizing

The guidance for the size is 1.5 size above for comfortable climbing shoes. I'm 10.5 and bought 12 and it is way too big. Sent them back and got 11 but it is still very big. Trying to sell them now :(

Upsize by 1 size or more if you're a beginner

I'm a street size 4.5/5 and i got 5.5 and they hurt my feet. I've used them 6 times now for 2-3 hour sessions and they havent stretched out much. As a beginner, I would go for straps rather than laces next time because it's a hassle when you want to take them off to rest your feet.

Otherwise, it's a good pair of shoes :)
