La Sportiva Mantra

Size: EU 35

The La Sportiva Mantra is a technical climbing slipper from the 'no-edge' range, aimed at indoor climbing.

Designed to provide maximum sensitivity, the Mantra has a super thin Vibram XSGrip2 sole to allow you to feel every detail whilst on the wall. The Mantra incorporates La Sportiva's D-Tech technology - the sole extends around the sides of the shoe in order to provide a larger surface area to grip onto large volumes.

Allowing you to get closer to the rock, the 'no edge' technology gives the Mantra three distinct improvements: increased sensitivity, homogenous pressure and adaptability. They can basically take on anything you throw their way. The P3 Patent System means the shoe retains its push-pull toe power throughout its lifespan. This construction feature makes the shoe adaptable to a broad spectrum of foot shapes.

No-Edge Technology in Detail

  • Sensitivity is improved thanks to the reduced layer of rubber - the No-Edge construction system reduces the distance between the foot and the rock surface, enhancing foot sensitivity on holds.
  • Specifically developed to provide "homogenous pressure", whereby the absence of any edges allows the foot to exert an all-round equal push on the inner side of the shoe.
  • The No-Edge design maximises the surface area in contact with the foot under all conditions.

Best for indoors

This is the best slipper for indoor climbing. The no edge all around helps use my feet in novel ways without just scrapping the edges off (better contact area).

The lack of edge and softness does make it feel like i'm climbing barefoot, feedback is insane.

Great for indoor bouldering

Really soft, comfortable and fit like a glove. Personally, I enjoy the extra sensitivity- help me feel more confident stepping on some footholds.

I'll say it again and again and again.

The La Sportiva Mantra is a great show and true to its name (word or sound repeated to aid concentration in meditation). I can't stop telling people how good these shoes are!

I primarily climb inside on plastic, so I wanted something soft and comfortable that was aggressive enough to play on overhangs but not so much that volumes were unusable. Somehow the Mantra does both exceptionally well.

They are super soft and I receive excellent feedback on all hold types. The no edge technology makes finding the sweet spot on most holds effortless. Although for more crimpy routes I would recommend a more firm, stiffer shoe.

Honestly they just make every session fun!
