The Western Mountaineering Alpinlite sleeping bag is a fully featured down bag designed for use in a range of conditions.
Built wider at the shoulders and hips, the Western Mountaineering Alpinlite is actually simply a wider version of the popular WM Ultralite bag, with the idea being that it can be used with more layers or a down jacket if necessary, allowing you to keep the pack size and weight of the bag to a minimum. With a higher volume between the shoulders and hips, this version is also an ideal down bag for women. There are a fair number of down mummy bags with a comfort range down to -7°C on the market, however few have the width, warmth, or loft of the Western Mountaineering Alpinlite.
The Brand
More than 40 years ago, two northern California mountaineers came together with a vision of un-compromised excellence. Their inspired dedication and persistence built the foundation of this now globally renowned brand. Western Mountaineering's history is more than just two young men building sleeping bags: even today WM still remains a small independent company, making all of its sleeping bags in the original factory in San Jose (USA), whilst constantly striving to give their customers the finest down products money can buy.

I recently bought the Alpinlite for wild camping on Dartmoor and the Lake District. I wanted this particular sleeping bag because of the light weight, the warmth rating and importantly it was wider around the shoulders as I am quite broad. I used it on a test wild camp in Kent last weekend and it was just great. Very warm, lots of room to snuggle into it and turn around. The material feels great, so far its a perfect buy. Next trip April, wild camping somewhere remote on Dartmoor........Cant wait.
