The Scarpa Instinct Lace is an aggressive, robustly constructed, performance climbing shoe designed for sport climbing and bouldering.
Based on the Instinct VS model, the lace up version is much lighter and more sensitive. With its microfibre upper, 3/4 outsole design and TPU cage wrapping, it offers great foot support and prevents torsional movement and roll during extreme edging. The well fitting Instinct VS heel cup has been bolted on, making the Scarpa Instinct Lace an exceptional weapon for both sport climbers and boulderers alike.
Sizing
As with all the modern performance Scarpa's, the Instinct Lace provides reliably similar sizing - i.e. if you are a 42 in the Vapour Lace, Instinct Lace/Slipper, Boostic etc. you should be a 42 in this shoe.

I bought the same size as my Scarpa Meastro shoes (EU43.5) and the length fit well, but unfortunately, the shoe is very pointy compared to the Meastro and angles sharply down from the big to towards the little toe. This simply does not fit my foot shape, so no firm conclusions. They are marketed as a "wide" shoe, and they may well be wide at the ball of the foot, but the space for all but the big toe may be too small for many feet (I guess). For reference, I also have Katanas in EU42 which are fairly narrow on my foot but do actually work well for bouldering. Will send them back for a refund. Usual excellent service from Rock and Run.
Shoes are great to wear, good quality and the laces on these aggressive shoes help give me support where I need it. In terms of sizing I’d say I needed half a size larger than what I normally go for in climbing shoes. So consider that before buying since returns aren’t free
I took a little bit of a leap of faith with these and bought them on a recommendation. Delivery and service was prompt, build quality on the shoes are excellent and much neater finished than many shoes but when I tried them on they didn't work for the shape of my foot. Returning them to Rock and Run was quick and easy and they partially refunded me right away and exchanged them against a different model and brand that I'm really happy with.
These are good climbing shoes, I went slightly too technical on the sizing, so I can only wear them for a few climbs at a time, but definitely a good investment for finding some grip on tiny footholds!
found them comfortable and they perform very well
