The La Sportiva TX5 EVO MID GTX is a technical hiking shoe designed for those carrying heavy loads or heading on longer hikes into the mountains over rugged terrain.
With a nubuck leather upper paired with waterproof yet breathable GORE-TEX ePE Extended Comfort, your feet stay dry whether you’re crossing streams or tackling muddy ground. The 3D Flex Evo™ system enhances ankle mobility while reducing chafing, allowing for a smooth, natural stride, while the Ortholite® Hybrid™ Mountain Hiking 5mm footbed delivers lasting comfort throughout the day.
An approach-inspired lacing system ensures a precise, secure fit when the terrain gets technical, and underfoot, the Vibram® Megagrip™ outsole with Impact Brake System™ technology provides reliable traction on both ascents and descents. Built with longevity in mind, the TX5 EVO MID GTX also features Resole Platform™ inserts, making it easy to repair and extend the boots' lifespan without compromising performance or comfort.

Very, very pleased with these. I’ve struggled of late finding some hiking boots that are comfortable and that I’m happy with, having tried a few different brands.
I should have stuck with La Sportiva - I’ve got a pair of their G2 Evo, their Nepal Cube, their Trango Tower GTX and their TX4 Evo approach shoes, but for some daft reason, I tried other brands for a pair of “ordinary” hiking boots, with no success.
So I bought these TX5 Evo Mid boots … and they’re amazing!
Very comfortable, straight out of the box. First hike in them was a big hike in The Lakes. They felt great - nice sticky sole was great on Jack’s Rake. There’s a bit more flex in the sole than my TX4 Evo approach shoes, which is good for hiking, but they still a stiffer than average boot sole … which I like, and I found perfect on a very rocky hike.
Although they look similar to the TX4, the TX5 have a tread that is much more suited to hiking - my TX4 shoes are great on rock, but can be very sketchy on grass. But the TX5 boots work great, being sticky on rock AND working well on grass - a good compromise.
They look great, too. Nice Nubuck leather, great finish to the details.
Nice and light, too.
I’m struggling to find any negatives about them, tbh.
Good customer service from Rock & Run at their store in Milnthorpe. I’ve ordered from them online, before. Good online service, but it was actually nice to visit their store.
