The La Sportiva Boulder X is a versatile, technical approach shoe that works for both climbing and via ferrata.
With a toe box designed for cragging, and an extra grip sole that's perfect for via ferrata, the La Sportiva Boulder X is the ideal shoe for those who love multi-activities in the mountains. The new and improved Vibram sole design provides even greater grip while climbing or doing via ferrata, whilst the Impact Brake System offers enhanced braking power for descending routes. I have had these shoes for about 2/3 weeks, I live in north Wales and they have been on the mountains most days, great kit, comfortable, rugged, flexible not strong, the only thing better than a new pair is an old pair.
Shoes lasting well. Now 14 months I've been wearing them, mostly for scrambling, walking, biking and casual wear. Probably best all-round shoe I've had and are lasting well. Will get a couple more pairs when they are on special again and in my size. Not waterproof but don't care. Grip is fantastic. I went a half size smaller than my usual shoe which paid off as the snug fit is both comfortable and great for scrambling and climbing on Caithness sea cliffs and rock. My only bugbear is the laces don't seem to stay tied - not operator error I promise - but a double double knot seems to sort this out.
These are my third pair of this shoe. My "go to shoe" for a variety of situations from general walking/ scrambling and easy grade routes. Have used them on my local hills ( Skye Cuillin ) and obviously found that they "tick-the-box" as they are my 3 rd pair in 9 years. Thought the model had been discontinued but good to find they are still available.
For me these are great approach shoes. In fact I wear them all the time instead of walking boots, which I have never liked for general hiking. The first pair took me the length of Offas’s **** with no problem. They are not waterproof but for me that is not an issue. That pair lasted a good 5 years but finally I decided to replace them. These will take over where the otrhers left off!
