Scarpa Instinct VS

Size: EU 39.5

The Scarpa Instinct VS is a technical, performance climbing shoe aimed at high level trad climbers, boulderers and sport climbers.

By combining the best features of the Instinct Slipper and Lace shoes with some refinements, tweaks and improvements, the Scarpa Instinct VS is a serious contender as one of the best high-end performance climbing shoes available. As with the slipper version, the Instinct VS is entirely constructed from synthetic fabric. However, the more substantial (strapped) upper, stiff midsole and high coverage of rubber means the Scarpa Instinct VS does hold its size and shape considerably better than either of its namesakes.

In terms of rigidity the VS is certainly more akin to a lace up, so those who prefer soft shoes may prefer the Stix or Booster S. One big improvement lies in the full coverage heel cup - no more heel slips when torquing in horizontal breaks! Another useful tweak comes by way of the more substantial rubber patch on the toe-box, which is both more effective and durable than that featured on the other two Instinct models.

Overall, a solid performer packing an aggressive asymmetric last, providing a powerful forefoot, well fitting heel and robust construction.

Sizing

As with all the modern performance Scarpa's, the Instinct VS provides reliably similar sizing - i.e. if you are a 42 in the Vapour Lace, Instinct Lace/Slipper, Boostic etc. you should be a 42 in this shoe.

Perfect climbing shoes for larger foots

It is an agressive / perfomance quality shoes, it is very utilized in sport routes aswell, but what it shines the most is in outdoor bouldering. This shoes still soft, but with a good, stable and hard edge, so you can min max all of you toe strenght out there. It has a magnificent heel hook, if it fits well. One problem that is "common" is the difference betwen the middle section of the foot comparing to the heel, if you foot is large and your heel is thin, you will have some air bubbles. I would recommend you a pair of instinct vsr, have in mind they r softer.

      Happy with these

Another safe pair of Scarpas for me. Bought my usual size and confident these will bed in nicely. Used for the first time and finished a little footwork dependent problem I've been working on. Happy to take the 'new shoes' bonus!
