Who are they?
Moon Climbing are a British company that were founded in 2002 (initially under the brand name S7) by professional rock climber, Ben Moon. With over 30 years of climbing experience and having climbed the world’s first 8c+/9a, Moon’s goal was to develop, design and produce a range of high-quality climbing products that he’d utilise in his own day-to-day climbing.
After more than 16 years in business at their Sheffield base - incorporating a short stint in Salt Lake City, Utah - the focus of Moon Climbing remains the same. The company is still run by the founder Ben Moon and a small team of dedicated climbers.
What are Moon known for?
Moon Climbing produce a core range of tried and tested climbing products like climbing clothing, packs, bouldering pads and an extensive range of training products. But, the product that’s synonymous with the Moon brand and name is their Moonboard - a standardised LED-lit training board that has colonised gyms across the globe. The Moonboard was created in 2005 with Ben developing the concept of Sheffield’s famous School Room into an accessible training tool. Since those humble beginnings, the Moonboard has founded a worldwide board climbing community through its app whilst transforming the way contemporary climbers interact with the old-fashioned woody.

Moon products are made at their UK base using materials that are sustainably sourced.
Environmental action
Alongside sustainably sourcing materials, Moon try to use as many organic fabrics, recycled fabrics and water-based dyes as possible. Packaging is reduced to an absolute minimum and so are air miles with the company opting for sea freight rather than air freight wherever possible. Most impressively of all, Moon donate 1% of their gross sales revenue to environmental charities like the Woodland Trust and the World Land Trust.
