Who are they?

Founded in 2008 by Giovanni Rossi, Blue Ice are passionate producers of the most streamlined mountaineering kit on the market. Based in Chamonix, at the heart of the beautiful Alps, Blue Ice are perfectly situated to develop and test their kit in its intended alpine environment. What started in a garage with friends has since developed into one of the market leading alpine equipment manufacturers with headquarters in both Les Houches (Chamonix region) and Salt Lake City.

What are Blue Ice known for?

Blue Ice embody the back to basics approach, producing some of the lightest and most functional kit out there. This is exemplified in their Choucas harness which, when it was released in 2011, was the first alpine harness on the market to weight under 150 grams. Now, 10 years later, the refined Choucas weighs a mere 84g but still packs in every feature you’d ever need from an alpine harness.

Alongside their ultra-lightweight harnesses, Blue Ice manufacture a range of the best alpine packs including their original flagship models, the Warthog and the Dragonfly, and a collection of high quality ice axes.

Where are Blue Ice products made?

All of Blue Ice’s hardware and harnesses are made in France whilst their backpacks are made in Vietnam.

Environmental action

Blue Ice are passionate ambassadors for the environment, contributing 1% of their total revenue to environmental not-for-profit associations. Their Les Houches headquarters, built in 2016, was constructed in accordance with future thermal environmental regulations to minimise its impact on the environment. Oh, and they give a lifetime warranty on all of their products.
