Wild Country Astro Quickdraws


Upon their release, the Wild Country Astro Quickdraws emerge as the lightest model in the Wild Country quickdraw range and make for an ideal trad climbing quickdraw.

Designed with trad climbers in mind, the Astro is a mid sized wire gate carabiner with a decent gate clearance and a hooded nose. What this means is that you have a carabiner that is a bit smaller than other models in the Wild Country range, though not too small to be hard to handle. The hooded nose gives a smooth transition into the carabiner to reduce snagging of your gear and rope when climbing.

Weight has been reduced by they size as already mentioned, plus the use of hot forging to create the I-beam structure. This I-beam design with the characteristic in and out shape, is the result of removing extra metal where unnecessary for strength and usability purposes.

The sling is lightweight and strong 10mm dyneema, with the Wild Country Vice Locator to keep the carabiners in position. In regard to sling length you have a choice. As this quickdraw is best for trad, 15cm will probably be most useful with a few 20cm and maybe the odd 10cm length.

Overall a great consideration if you are looking for some high spec, lightweight quickdraws for trad climbing.
